I have divided the reading section into two parts: Academic Reading Skills and Reading for Vocabulary Development.
The academic reading skills section will focus on finding main ideas and supporting details, discovering tone and intention, taking notes, and responding in writing to what you have read.
The reading for vocabulary development is more about reading for enjoyment and working out the meaning of words from the context. These short essays are ones that I have written. The short stories are ones that I have simplified. These readings also have some vocabulary assistance in the form of pop-up definitions for some words that might be a little difficult. The pop-up definitions are useful, but I recommend that you try to work out the meaning of the word before you ask for assistance. If you are always taking the easy way out, you will probably find that your vocabulary does not develop well.
